Embarking on a Launch Quest: Building 100 Projects, One at a Time
With over 25 years of experience, I'm starting Launch Quest to develop a SaaS boilerplate and launch 100 products. Despite past struggles with personal projects, I aim to inspire and share my journey, balancing my day job and providing insights into product development. Join me!
As someone who has been passionate about building things for nearly 25 years, I've always found joy in bringing ideas to life and creating products that make a difference. My journey began at the age of 10 when I discovered the world of programming. Since then, I haven't looked back. I love tackling challenging problems, building proofs of concept, and creating prototypes, but what truly gives me a sense of satisfaction is when people use something I've made.
Throughout my career, I've successfully delivered countless projects, leading a tech company that develops fair and green computing solutions. However, despite my professional achievements, I've struggled to bring my personal projects to fruition in my spare time. This struggle was exemplified by my experience with ServerDuty, a tool I desperately needed but couldn't find an easily usable solution for.
I poured countless late nights into building ServerDuty, but somewhere along the way, I found myself lost in the weeds of development. The long, drudgerous tasks—building navigation, mobile UIs, chart libraries, registration and sign-up processes, forgotten passwords, and invoice pages—overwhelmed me. I realised that to truly enjoy the process of building, I needed all the boring stuff to come out of the box.
This realisation led me to devise a plan: build or assemble a framework from existing parts that would provide all the necessary boilerplate. By doing so, I could spin up a SaaS boilerplate, customise it, and then implement each specific project into it, allowing me to focus on what matters most—having fun.
To keep myself motivated and accountable, I'm embarking on a quest—a Launch Quest—to launch 100 products. This challenge is not just about testing my abilities and proving to myself that I can launch these projects; it's about showing others that it's possible to overcome doubt and find success. By documenting my journey and sharing my progress, I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions and bring their ideas to life.
Balancing my day job with my personal projects will be a challenge, but I believe that documenting the process will be the key to staying motivated. By working on projects that I can blog about, I'll receive the serotonin boost I need to keep going, even when the going gets tough.
Join me on this audacious journey as I attempt to bring 100 projects to life.
